Probably the best and worst thing to happen to music was Mtv. On one hand, it placed an emphasis on style and substance over actual songcraft, but at the same time I wasn’t subjected to rocking out to ugly dudes like this on my television screen.

It’s a crime that more people haven’t heard this song. The lazy beat, the almost heartbreaking lyrics, the calliope-like piano and the entire presentation. It’s a perfect little pop song. It’ll never really matter to people the way a Dylan song or that song you heard when you got laid for the first time, but it doesn’t diminish that it’s great.
